Carlton is known as Melbourne’s ‘Little Italy’ with its strip of alfresco Italian eateries along Lygon Street. Just north of Melbourne’s centre and the home of Melbourne University, it has a lively student scene. The area boasts one of Australia’s World Heritage Sites, the Carlton Gardens, as well as the Royal Exhibition Building and the Melbourne Museum.
